What Bedrock Is
A band that performs the songs you love to remember from the 60s and 70s.
Guys who play this stuff because they love it as much as you do.
Guys who wear shoes and no (real) animal skins.
What Bedrock Plays
The classic songs you know, and the one-hit wonders you never hear performed live
anymore.
Music that will make you glad you came out to hear the band.
Nothing that requires bones, mastadon mating calls, or royalties to Barry Manilow.
Who Bedrock Is
3 musicians with more than 60 years (no joke!) of combined road wear, namely:
Nick
DiFranco
(guitar, vocals, incense)
Blues/funk/jazz/rock-master DiFranco has been a
fixture on the Boston club circuit since Polyester was invented. Since then, essences of
Vaughn, Hendrix, Lennon and Santana have taken up residence in his soul and defined his unmistakable style.
Craig
Campbell
(drums, vocals, blacklights)
Late of the Gary Bernath Blues Band, Johnny Mohamed and the New Boy Scouts,
Triple Play, and about a dozen bands whose names he can’t remember, Campbell used to be one of the most
sought-after session drummers west of Boston. Of course, now he’s too
busy …
Steve
Straight (bass, vocals,
matches)
The veteran of more wedding receptions than your local priest, Straight has finally found
guys who will put up with his musical-taste schizophrenia and humor his insatiable
appetite for harmony.
Art
Phelps (keys, guitar, vocals, parrots)
A veteran
of the Central Massachusetts bar scene of the 1970s and '80s, Art was invited
to join Bedrock after following the band for a long time. "I think
it was Craig who said: 'Stop following us … and give us those photographs,'" Phelps
says. "It was very exciting— I was such a fan of the group,
and I still am."
